If your SaaS sends its welcome emails, password resets and receipts through Brevo, and transactional email is mainly what you need, a Brevo alternative built for that job may suit you better. This guide is for people who build SaaS products, sites and tools with Claude Code but don’t write code themselves.
Below you’ll find what Brevo is built around, what a transactional email service needs to do, the main alternatives with prices checked this month, and how to move over without your emails stopping.
Why look for a Brevo alternative for transactional email?
Brevo is a marketing-first platform. Transactional email is one part of a much larger product that also covers campaigns, a CRM, SMS, WhatsApp and loyalty programs.
Every Brevo plan includes transactional email, sent through its API (a way for software to talk to a service) or its SMTP relay (the standard way email is handed from one server to another). The free plan allows 300 emails a day, and paid plans start at $9 a month for 5,000 emails.
The catch for a transactional-only user is focus. Brevo’s plans, dashboard and features are organized around campaigns and contacts, and the plan names describe marketing tools such as segmentation, A/B testing and landing pages.
Brevo also has a connector for Claude. According to Brevo, it lets Claude draft campaigns, read templates and look up contacts, but it can’t send, schedule or delete anything. Brevo’s fuller MCP server, which covers more of the account, is aimed at developers and connected with an API token.
What do you need from a transactional email service?
Transactional emails are the one-to-one emails your product sends when someone does something: signs up, resets a password, pays. They’re different from promotions and announcements, as our guide to transactional vs marketing emails explains.
For that job, you need:
- Reliable sending from your live project, at any hour.
- Your own sending domain, confirmed with a few DNS records (the settings that tell the internet how your domain works). See how to verify a domain for email.
- Clear send logs, so you can see whether an email actually went out.
- Quick changes to wording and design.
- A price that fits small volumes now and growth later.
Every service below, SimpleSends included, uses the same building blocks: an account, a verified domain, a secret key your live project uses (here’s what an API key is), and a small piece of sending code that Claude Code writes. What differs is who each service is built for and what working with it is like.
What are the main Brevo alternatives for transactional email?

Resend is a modern email API built for developers. It offers an official MCP server (a standard way for AI tools like Claude Code to connect to other services; here’s what MCP is) and a listing in Claude’s connector directory. Its docs and dashboard are written for people who code.
Postmark focuses on transactional email and puts delivery speed at the center of its pitch. Its official MCP server is aimed at developers and is connected by adding a configuration snippet.
Mailgun offers an email API and SMTP relay, with plans that scale to high volumes. On its Free and Basic plans, send logs are kept for one day.
Amazon SES has the lowest price per email, but it lives inside Amazon Web Services. New accounts start in a sandbox, where you can only email verified addresses and send up to 200 emails a day, until AWS approves a request for production access. Since July 2026, new accounts start on its Essentials plan at $0.16 per 1,000 emails unless they switch.
SimpleSends is a transactional email service built for people who build with Claude Code but don’t write code. After one sign-up, your day-to-day email work happens in the Claude Code chat.
What is working with each service like day to day?
With the developer services above, the dashboard stays part of your routine. Templates, logs, keys and settings live there, and the help pages assume you’re comfortable with code. Several now offer MCP servers, which let Claude Code do more for you, but the products are still designed around developers.
SimpleSends is built the other way round. Its sign-up, connect steps and help are written in plain English, without developer jargon. Once it’s connected, you brief Claude Code the way you’d brief a person, and it designs, writes, builds and changes every transactional email your SaaS sends.
When something goes wrong, you ask in the chat. Claude Code can read your send logs and delivery status through SimpleSends, so it can tell you whether an email went out and help work out why one didn’t.
A customer says they never got their password reset email this morning. Can you check what happened and explain it to me in plain English?
Claude Code checks the send log for that address, tells you whether the email was sent and delivered, and suggests what to do next.
Which Brevo alternative is best for people who don’t code?
If you build with Claude Code and don’t write code, SimpleSends is the best fit, because it’s built for exactly that. You sign up once, connect once, and Claude Code handles your transactional emails from then on.
Other services fit better in two cases:
| If you… | Look at |
|---|---|
| Write code or want to edit code yourself | Resend or Postmark |
| Send very high volumes and want the lowest price per email | Amazon SES |
How do you move from Brevo to SimpleSends?
You connect SimpleSends, then ask Claude Code to move your emails over. Your live emails keep going out through Brevo until you approve the switch.
- Sign up on the SimpleSends website and follow the steps there to set up the email address you’ll send from. To send from your own domain, this includes adding a few DNS records where your domain is registered. You can’t sign up inside the Claude Code chat.
- In Claude Code, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add, then Add custom connector. Enter these details:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | SimpleSends |
| MCP server URL | https://mcp.simplesends.com/mcp |
- When Claude prompts you to connect, log in to SimpleSends.
- Back in the Claude Code chat, tell Claude Code that you’ve connected SimpleSends for all transactional email:
I’ve connected SimpleSends for all transactional email.
Claude Code takes it from there, including adding what your project needs to send email. Then ask it to move your existing emails:
My project currently sends its emails through Brevo. Please move every transactional email over to SimpleSends. Keep the wording and design the same for now, and send me a test of each one before anything changes for real users. Once I’ve approved them, switch the sending over and remove the old Brevo sending code.
Claude Code lists the emails it finds, rebuilds each one, sends you the tests and waits for your approval before switching.
Leave your Brevo DNS records in place until everything is sending through SimpleSends. A domain can only have one SPF record (a DNS record listing the services allowed to send for your domain), so if both services need one on the same domain, they have to be combined into a single record.
Frequently asked questions
Is Brevo free for transactional email?
Brevo’s free plan includes transactional email, with up to 300 emails a day according to Brevo’s own transactional email page (checked October 2026). Paid plans start at $9 a month for 5,000 emails. Limits change, so check Brevo’s pricing page before you rely on them.
Will my emails stop while I move away from Brevo?
Not if you move in the right order. Your live project keeps sending through Brevo until the new sending code goes live. Ask Claude Code to build and test every email with the new service first, switch over once you’ve approved them, then remove the Brevo code after real emails are arriving.
Do I have to change my from address when I switch?
Usually not. You can keep sending from the same address, such as hello@yourcompany.com, once that domain is verified with the new service. Your users won’t notice the switch unless you also change the wording or design of your emails.
Should I delete my Brevo DNS records straight away?
No. Leave them in place until all your emails are sending through the new service. One thing to watch: a domain can only have one SPF record, so if Brevo and the new service both list themselves in SPF on the same domain, the two must be combined into a single record.
How much does SimpleSends cost?
SimpleSends has a free Starter plan with up to 100 emails a day, a Launch plan at $14 a month for up to 2,000 emails a day and up to 10 sending domains, and a Growth plan at $59 a month with no daily sending limit. You sign up and choose a plan on the SimpleSends website. After that, connecting SimpleSends to Claude Code and working with your emails in the chat is part of how the service works.
