Vibe Coding Email: How to Add Email to Your Project
Vibe coding and hit the email step? Here’s why your project needs a transactional email service, your options, and the quickest setup with Claude Code.
Quick answer
Vibe coding email means getting the project you built with AI to send emails like sign-up confirmations and password resets. Test senders and personal Gmail accounts hit limits fast, so you’ll want a transactional email service. Sign up, verify your domain, connect it to Claude Code, then brief Claude Code in plain English to build every email.

You've been vibe coding for a few weeks. Your SaaS has a sign-up page, a dashboard and a pricing page, and most of it works. Then Claude Code says something like "you'll need to set up a transactional email service," and the momentum stalls.
This guide covers vibe coding email from that moment on: why it comes up, the options you have, the quickest way to get set up, and what to say to Claude Code once you're connected. It's written in plain English, without developer jargon, for people who build by describing what they want.
A quick definition first. Vibe coding is building software by telling an AI what you want in everyday language, rather than writing the code yourself. AI researcher Andrej Karpathy coined the term in February 2025, and Collins Dictionary named it its Word of the Year for 2025.
When does email come up when you're vibe coding?
Email shows up the moment your project needs to reach real people while you're not around. These are the most common triggers:
| What you're building | The email it needs |
|---|---|
| A sign-up page | A welcome email, or a "confirm your email" link |
| A login | A password reset email |
| A checkout | An order confirmation or receipt |
| A contact form | A notification to you, and often a reply to the sender |
| Team accounts | An invite email |
These are transactional emails: messages your project sends automatically because someone did something. They're different from newsletters and promotions, which go out to a list. Our guide to transactional vs marketing email covers the difference, and 12 transactional emails every SaaS needs has the full list.
Your project can't send these well on its own. Reliable sending needs mail servers, a good sending reputation, and records that prove the email really comes from you. That's why Claude Code points you to a service. If the term is new to you, here's what a transactional email service does.
What are your options for sending email?
You have three realistic options. Here's what each one is like once real users arrive.
| Option | What it is | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| The test sender in your login or database tool | Some tools, such as Supabase, include a built-in sender so you can try out sign-up and reset emails | Supabase's built-in sender delivers only to members of your project's team, is limited to 2 messages an hour, and isn't meant for live projects |
| Your personal Gmail account | Sending from the Gmail address you already use | Gmail caps personal accounts at 500 emails a day, and every email comes from your personal address rather than your product |
| A transactional email service | A company that sends your project's emails, handles bounces and keeps logs | It takes a one-time setup, and most services are built for people who write code |
The first two are fine for trying things out. For a project with real users, you'll want a transactional email service.
Most of those services are built for developers. They suit people who write code or want to edit code themselves, and their dashboards and help pages assume that background. SimpleSends is a transactional email service built for people who build with Claude Code but don't write code.
What's the quickest vibe coding email setup?
The quickest route is to connect an email service to Claude Code and let Claude Code do the building. Setting up SimpleSends takes four steps:
- Sign up on the SimpleSends website and follow the steps there to set up the address you'll send from. To send from your own domain, that includes adding a few DNS records where your domain is registered. DNS records are small settings that tell the internet facts about your domain, such as which services may send email for it. You can't sign up inside the Claude Code chat.
- Add SimpleSends as a connector. In Claude Code, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add, then Add custom connector. Fill in these two fields:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | SimpleSends |
| MCP server URL | https://mcp.simplesends.com/mcp |
- Log in when prompted. When Claude asks you to connect, log in to SimpleSends.
- Tell Claude Code you're connected.
I've connected SimpleSends for all transactional email.
Claude Code takes it from there, including adding what your project needs to send email.
A connector is how Claude Code talks to another service. This one uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard for connecting AI tools to other services.
Here's what Claude Code adds, and why. When your SaaS is live and a customer asks for a password reset at 3am, Claude Code isn't involved. Your live project sends that email through SimpleSends directly. To do that, it needs a secret key (an API key, a kind of password your project uses to prove it's allowed to send) and a small piece of sending code. Claude Code adds both. The connector is for building: setting things up, sending test emails and checking what went out.

What should you tell Claude Code?
Once you're connected, brief Claude Code the way you'd brief a person: say what you want, who it's for and what good looks like. These four messages cover most projects.
Plan the set.
Look through my project and list the emails it should send, when each one goes out and who gets it. Don't build anything yet. I'd like to review the list first.
You'll get a plan to approve or change. Our guide to which transactional emails your SaaS needs explains what usually makes the list.
Design and write them.
Start with the welcome email. Keep it short and friendly, use our brand colors, and include one button that takes people to their dashboard. Show me a preview before you build it in.
Expect a preview you can comment on, then the rest of the emails in the same style.
Test before anyone else sees them.
Send a test of every email to hello@yourcompany.com so I can check them on my phone.
Test emails can go out from the chat. Real ones go out from your live project.
Sort out problems.
A customer says they never got their password reset email this morning. Can you check whether it went out and tell me what happened?
Claude Code can read send logs and delivery status through SimpleSends, so it can tell you whether the email went out and help work out why it didn't arrive.

What does email look like after that?
Changes become a message in the chat. A friendlier subject line, a new logo, a reminder three days before a trial ends: ask Claude Code, check the preview, and it updates the email. You don't need a dashboard for day-to-day work.
SimpleSends is built around that way of working. The sign-up, the connect steps and the help are written in plain English, and after one sign-up, everything else happens in your conversation with Claude Code.
Frequently asked questions
Who came up with the term vibe coding?
AI researcher Andrej Karpathy coined it in a post on X in February 2025. He described a way of building where you describe what you want, accept what the AI writes and stop thinking about the code itself. Collins Dictionary later named vibe coding its Word of the Year for 2025.
Can I send emails from the Claude Code chat?
You can send test emails from the chat while you build, which is a good way to check wording and layout. Real emails to your customers don’t go through the chat. They go out from your live project, which sends them through your email service on its own, any time of day.
Do I need my own domain to send email?
Sending from your own domain, such as hello@yourcompany.com, means customers see your product’s name rather than a personal or shared address. Setting it up means adding a few DNS records where your domain is registered, usually your domain registrar or hosting company. The SimpleSends website walks you through it.
Which Claude plan do I need to add a connector?
Custom connectors are available on Claude’s Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, and the feature is in beta. On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization Owner adds the connector first. Each member then connects to it and logs in with their own account.
What if Claude Code already started setting up a different email service?
Connect SimpleSends using the four steps above, then tell Claude Code you’ve switched. Ask it to move every email your project sends over to SimpleSends, remove anything it no longer needs, and send you a test of each email so you can check nothing was missed.
